The name Greg Miff Smith is synonymous with skydiving not just in South Australia, but around the country.

Greg goes by the affectionate nickname of Miff and has been skydiving over 48 years!

Miff started his own skydiving company in 1989 and has been at the pioneering forefront of skydiving, safety, equipment and training.

Miff has trained countless skydivers, including almost all of the current skydiving instructors in South Australia.

He has led display teams into events across the state including the Formula 1, Supercars, Boxing Day Test at the MCG and Football showdowns at Footy Park and Adelaide Oval, to name just a few.

Miff developed safety advancements in student skydiving equipment. He designed and introduced the Twin Action system with throw away pilot chutes, which was adopted through the industry, improving safety for all new skydivers.

He has raised one of Australia’s most talented skydiving families with both children, Jed (5000+ jumps) and Jazz (350+ jumps) being accomplished skydiving instructors, both achieving their ratings at the age of 18.

Miff has built one of the best skydiving training facilities in the country at SA Skydiving, Langhorne Creek. It’s home to the distinctive T shaped swoop pond and renowned around the country for its facilities, events and warm welcoming culture.

Miff has stepped down from the position of Chief Instructor and we salute and thank him for 35 years of inspiring leadership, always with a warm laugh and a cheeky smile.

Under his guide, SA Skydiving has an impeccable safety record, of which we are all very proud.

Miff has inspired a countless number of skydivers and had an immeasurable impact on the sport of skydiving.

Miff will continue to be involved in operations as the proprietor and director of SA Skydiving.
