questions

How does Ground School work?

Ground school is a one day course, teaching you everything you need to know before going for your first skydive.

On enrollment you’ll be sent some resources to read through. We recommend you come prepared. Ground school is an engaging mix of theory and practical – it is a big day with lots to take in. Once you’ve completed ground school you can then book in for your first skydive. We don’t do any skydives on the day of your Ground School

Who can learn to skydive?

We love those who want to make the sky their playground, however in the interest of safety and in the best interests of our students, we have placed some guidelines around who can learn

  • You must be 16 years old
  • Max weight of 100kgs
  • If you are over the age of 50, please contact the office before booking.

Is learning to skydive safe?

We are learning to jump out of planes, there are always going to be inherent risks – it’s part of why we jump!

That said, there are many ways we can assess and mitigate the risks associated with skydiving.

These include
advanced teaching syllabus through our AFF solo course

  • Experienced instructors
  • Top of the range equipment
  • Jumping in good weather

How long does it take to learn and how flexible is the course?

Learning to skydive can take time, we are heavily influenced by the weather, as well as your life, time and dollars.

As such we have designed our course to be very flexible, to cater to everyone’s timelines.

You can complete stages midweek or on the weekends, with no required completion date.

That said, completing your stages in a shorter time frame will dramatically increase your progression and learning.

What’s the A licence?

The A licence is officially called the Certificate A and is issued by the Australia Parachute Federation

To attain your A license you must

  • complete the AFF solo course
  • land 10 unassisted landings within 30 meters of a target
  • pass an A licence exam
  • have the approval and signature of the Chief Instructor

Your A license allows you to:

  • exit the plane without the immediate supervision of an instructor
  • jump in up to 20 knots of wind (under DZSO approval)
  • skydive around the world, as this license is internationally recognised

Let’s talk weather

Yes, skydiving is weather dependent. We go solo skydiving in good conditions, it’s way more fun and it mitigates risk.

As such, sometimes the operation is turning, with experienced jumpers, or tandems and student skydivers are on the ground. Prepare for this, it happens, it can be frustrating, but trust us, it’s for a good reason.

No dates work for me but I’m keen to do a course?

Fantastic! You have 2 options

  1. Grab a mate. With a minimum 2 people we can look to build another course around you.
  2. You can do a 1 on 1 private course, just budget an extra $250.

What if I want to move or cancel my course?

We take a $150 non-refundable deposit for the course. Some courses are numbers dependent so if you’d like to change dates, please give us 7 days notice. Inside 7 days you’ll forfeit your deposit to ensure the course can run.

What’s the equipment like?

If you want to be an amazing skydiver, we’ve got your back – covered with the best skydiving gear.

Our fleet of 6 student rigs is top of the range and impeccably maintained.

We use Cookie Fuel helmets, altimeters and radios so we can communicate with you under parachute.

Am I covered by insurance?

Every student skydiver is covered by a Personal Accident Insurance (PAI), issued by the Australian Parachute Federation (APF).

It covers you for $75,000 of cover in the case you’re injured on a skydive.

You can read all about it on the APF website – www.apf.com.au

We also strongly encourage you to think about Ambulance cover as part of your health insurance.

Can I stay on the dropzone?

Yes absolutely, we encourage you to do so. You can camp free of charge, or there are a range of accommodation options starting at $30/night.

The dropzone is equipped with modern facilities, club house, bar, games, toilets, showers, fire pits, BBQ, Pizza oven and more!

Let’s talk dollars and options.

Learning to skydive is an investment, like many of the best things in life, it ain’t cheap – but it is awesome!

You can pay for your course stage by stage as you go, or you can go hard on the A Licence Deluxe Pack for max value (yes it needs to be paid in full).

If you haven’t got the dosh to hand but can’t wait, you can finance the course as we’ve partnered with Zip Money. Give us a call to organise this.

What does it cost once I’ve finished my course?

Once you’ve got your A licence – skydiving gets way more accessible.

5,000ft Skydives are $33 each or $28 in a pack of 10.

12,000ft Skydives are $60 each or $50 in a pack of 10.

You’ll need a rig – $35 for the rig / $10 for the repack – $45 total per jump.

What if I don’t pass a stage?

There are competencies we need to achieve on each stage, with our learning consolidating and building stage on stage.

There are times when it’s in the students best interest to repeat a stage – if that’s you, don’t stress, it’s super common, in fact, some of your instructors would have repeated a stage at some point!

First repeats are full price for that stage, however if you have to repeat a stage twice, we’ll throw you a $50 discount to help you through.

When can I jump with my mates?

Our AFF solo course is all about teaching you to skydive safely, on your own.

The next level of fun begins with our BREL program, which is 8 instructed jumps teaching you to safely jump in groups.
