Matt Teager was known initially around the Adelaide DJ scene as DJ Teags, a nickname that followed him into his skydiving career.
Before skydiving, Teags was no stranger to adventure, chasing snow for 4 back to back seasons between Mt Hotham and Chamonix in the French Alps.
On his return to Adelaide, it was Teags’ parents who ignited the skydiving passion, purchasing him a tandem skydive for Christmas. He completed this tandem at SA Skydiving in March 2014 and started his solo course just weeks later.
Since that day, Teags has made it his mission to develop not only himself as a skydiver, but the entire skydiving community in South Australia.
Since his first day on the dropzone Teags was made welcome by Jed and Jana, Bryce and Miff and started working humble beginnings in manifest.
He took a year hiatus to Germany in 2015, however returned in 2016, rejoining the team in a part time marketing role.
Teags achieved his Instructor rating and AFF endorsement in March 2018.
2019 saw the addition of Tandem, Course Trainer and DZSO endorsements and Teags found himself more heavily involved with both skydiving and business operations.
His role increased to full time and he’s gained experience across all facets of skydiving operations, with 4,500 jumps to his name.
He has been part of countless events with the team at SA Skydiving, driven by a desire and a passion to bring people together across experience levels.
He has delivered Instructor courses, passionate about sharing knowledge and skills with the next generation.
Teags is a Senior Instructor, as well as freefly coach, adventure swooper, flag pilot for the SA Skydiving display team and Display Organiser.
Teags has been appointed Chief Instructor of SA Skydiving as of 22nd July 2025.
He takes over from Greg Smith who served 35 years in the role.
We welcome Teags to the role and wish him all the best.
